Stardew Valley: How to find secrets underneath the mayor’s house
To start learning this spooky secret, you must enter the basement of the Mayor’s house. This place has no stairs so you have to bring your own ladder. You can craft a staircase (required 99 Stone and Mining Proficiency Level 2 or more to get this formula). Next, go into the Mayor’s house and place the ladder in the bedroom on the right (pictured below) to enter the basement.
The purple shorts approach in the Mayor’s Basement
There’s a maze of crates in the Mayor’s basement. Here there is a secret reward for you, Lucky Purple Shorts. This maze is quite simple. After a few tries, you’ll find a secret passage in the lower left corner of the maze to reach the purple shorts.
How to escape the maze
As soon as you pick up the pants, you will be attacked by a pair of floating sentient shorts! Be careful because it can hurt you if it hits you. As soon as you get the lucky shorts, immediately go back and exit the maze. When you reach the exit, the stairs will disappear.
It’s fun that this secret location can be explored over and over again, so you can amass a collection of lucky shorts if you want!
What can you do with Lucky Purple Shorts?
You can trigger some fun events with Lucky Purple Shorts:
- If you display them at Stardew Valley Fair, Mayor Lewis will disqualify you. He will also bribe you with 750 Star Tokens to keep their origin a secret!
- If you give the Mayor shorts in Ginger Island, he will wear them throughout the Season.
- You can even include them as an ingredient in Luau Festival Soup to get unique responses from the Mayor and Governor.
