Mult
Mult in Balatro stands for Multiplier. Many people guess that because Multiplier is a long word, the developers chose to shorten it to Mult.
Balatro’s gameplay is to play Poker Hand (set of 1 to 5 cards), then the total number of Chips you receive will be multiplied by the Mult number. The goal is to defeat the Blind (obstacles that the player must overcome) as quickly as possible to receive as much Cash as possible.
Although increasing your Chip count is important, you will earn more Chips if you have a higher Mult count. One of the main ways to increase Mult is to get Mult Cards. There are dozens of ways to get Mult Cards in Balatro, or rather, turn your cards into Mult Cards. But first, let’s start with its definition.
Mult Cards
Mult Card is a type of Enhancement Card. There are 8 Enhancement Cards in Balatro and they are applied to cards in your existing deck. You can turn cards into Enhancement Cards with special cards like Joker, Tarot and Planet. Mult Card Enhancements will add 4 to Mult when used.
For example, if you have a Mult Card of 7 of Hearts, you will receive the 7 Chips that always come with the 7s, but you will also add 4 to your Mult to calculate the score for that hand. Once you have finished scoring points, Chips and Mult will return to 0 until you continue playing Poker Hand.
