In Once Human, managing supplies is as important as staying hydrated and full. Some people may enjoy fighting against Deviants, but don’t forget your survival skills and keeping yourself well fed is paramount.
Obtaining food is one of the things many Metas struggle with. Luckily, players don’t have to work hard because with just a skilled arm and a fishing rod, your hungry days in Once Human can end. Let’s continue reading to learn how fishing in Once Human helps players exploit abundant food to continue to survive.
How to fish in Once Human
To start fishing, the player must create Fishing Rod in Supplies Workbench mine. To make this tool you need 20 Logs and 10 Copper Ingots. In addition to Fishing Rod, players need to craft it Bait with 1 Corn. Corn can be found on farms northeast of Deadsville.
Once you have all the necessary items, gamers must follow these steps to be able to fish in Once Human:
- Go to the nearest body of water (lake, river, swamp,…).
- Go deep enough into the water, but don’t dive.
- When equipped Fishing Rodclick to get started fishing mode.
- Press R to choose your bait.
- A red spot will appear on the water surface if the water is shallow. Aim further to turn that point green.
- Press again to set the hook and start fishing.
- The fish will appear underwater and on the user interface there will be a circle showing the hook status. When the fish takes the bait, the circumference of the circle will begin to turn blue.
- Press continuously to pull the fish towards you until it rises out of the water. When the fish comes out of the water, a box with its name and description will appear next to the options Collect and Release.
Now people can start catching a variety of fish and cooking different dishes to survive longer trips or gift them to their Hive friends. If there are fish or pre-cooked dishes whose durability is about to run out, or when the gamer is about to leave the game for a while, they should be sold.
People will make a lot of money by selling everything they catch and avoiding food spoilage. Carrying spoiled food in a backpack will only be useful if the player also has a Compost Bin that can be exchanged for Mushroom or Fertilizer. Players can also unlock methods to keep food fresh longer.
